SKFAA Update - July

  • Jul. 13th, 2009 at 2:32 PM
tweak
Website Updates: The SWAT Kats Fan Art Page is updated at last! For the longest time I only had one submission, but a few more came in all at once. So, now, there's some new art up from Raven SK, Sage SK, Tiquitoc and new artist Vissy!

Updates and a Drabble Post - Fisticuffs

  • Jul. 9th, 2009 at 11:13 AM
let's get dangerous
Website Updates: And, Kristen's SWAT Kat Gallery is updated! Of course, it's stuff that was previously posted here, but still. I also have some more work to do involving fixing the issue with the sketches directory and cleaning up the poetry page.

Drabble Post: And, now, a drabble. Because Sage wheedled me for more, I'm tentatively continuing my "Ground Rules" drabble as a series of short fics, revolving around Ed's first meetings with Mustang's staff. These will all be set in the manga and/or Brotherhood anime continuity. And, yes, I know I need to get back to things longer than all of these drabble series. I'm working on it!

Art Post - Callie

  • Jul. 7th, 2009 at 9:14 AM
bingo
Project Updates: Well, I fiiiiinally finished that pic of Callie I'd been working on forever. See? At least, I think it's finished. Any suggestions would be welcomed. It's not the most exciting pic, but I used it to test out my tablet laptop, which is amazing, by the way! And, I've got another tablet pic in the works too.

Website Updates: Everything needs updating. Kristen's SWAT Kat Gallery should see an update within the next few days. The SWAT Kats Fanfiction Archive is due for an update, but I only have one submission at this time. Likewise for the SWAT Kats Fan Art Page. But, that one's waited so long, I'll probably go ahead and post it soon regardless.

Randomness: In other news, as usual, [info]seekersks and I will be going to Otakon again this year! And, that's... next week! Wow, it snuck up on me! They haven't listed any guests that I'm really excited over this time out, but I still expect that it will be fun. It always is ;)

Because Sage is Awesome...

bring it
...she really did write that crack!fic! And, what's more, it makes sense! And, it, like Sage, is made of awesome.

Behold! The "Fully Caffeinated Alchemist"! Go forth and read it!

And, yes, it loosely ties to my "Ground Rules" drabble. Sort of. And, given its length compared to my drabble... I think I owe Sage more fic now.

Drabble Post - Ground Rules

fired up
Sage is evil. And, this drabble exists because Sage is evil. I made a joke, and then she dared/threatened/badgered me into making it a drabble. Well, it's not a proper drabble at 200 words, but still. So, Sage, in return for this... I want to see that caffeine-fueled crack!fic you threatened last night!

Fanfic Post - Short Fics

These probably won't make sense to anyone, but I was pleased with them, so I'm posting them here. Here's a few short little ficlets based around the RPG Sage and I are currently amusing ourselves with. Basically, it all started when I was introduced to Spaceman's "Halloween World" fanfics, which are based loosely around an episode of "Buffy, the Vampire Slayer". The general premise is that a spell causes people to change into whatever they dressed as for Halloween. Expanding on the scope of the source material, Spaceman had the phenomenon end up affecting the entire world permanently. Some people manage to retain their original personalities along with the powers and/or features of their costumes. Others are completely consumed by the identity of their costume. Still others are a mix of their costumes and former selves.
It was a fascinating premise with, as Spaceman demonstrated, endless crossover potential, so I proposed a variation on the idea to Sage as a personal RPG. Then, I started writing little fanfic snippets for some of the characters we were using. Uhm... because.

Just Another Halloween Party - He had been thiiiis close to bucking the “mandatory” costume rule. But, his wife overruled him, and the costume changed his life.

Just Another Visit to the Office - Ten years after the initial Halloween incident, a young agent with the Supernatural Counter-Measures Department returns from his latest mission.

Just Another Mission - Ten years after the Halloween incident, mutant alligators in the sewers are one of the more normal things he deals with.

Fyresight Move

Inu-Papa!
Website Updates: Fyresight.com is currently in the process of being moved to a new hosting company. None of the links will change, but parts of the site may be down until the move is complete. There will also probably be a few little things like counters and such that will need to be reset, so please bear with us for a little bit.

Edit: Okay, everything should be up now! If you see anything missing, please let me know.

SKFFA Update - June

Website Updates: And, the SWAT Kats Fanfiction Archive is updated once more! Just a small update this time out. And, uploads are continuing over at the Archive's new home.

Fanfic Post - Inseparable

This is entirely the fault of the new "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood" anime, which has hooked me and prompted me to both finally read the manga and go back and re-watch the original anime. And, because of that, this weird plotbunny attacked me. So, here - I give you a random alternate ending to the original anime series.

Inseparable (Fullmetal Alchemist) - He would have to tell Winry and Granny Pinako. Because they would see Ed’s eyes with Al’s smile. They would see Al’s patience when they expected Ed’s temper. )

SKFFA Update and Move!

rockin'
Whew! It's been over a month since I posted here. But, it was a bit of an eventful month. First, a water pipe burst under the house at 2:30 in the morning. Then, barely a week after it was fixed, the same pipe burst again in a different place. Two days later, it was another one. And, not one of them had the decency to go any earlier in the day than midnight. The problem turned out to be the water company increasing the pressure compounded by some of the piping being defective. The newer piping of all things. So, we had to get a pressure valve put in and the pipes replaced. And, to do the latter, we had to first clean out some closets and such so the plumbers would have access. Fun stuff all around.

In happier news....

Website Updates: The SWAT Kats Fanfiction Archive was updated back on April 27. And, it's a big update too.

What's more, Fyresight.com is slowly but surely being moved to new hosting. This doesn't really mean much for most of my websites. However, the SK Fanfic Archive will eventually be moving to its own domain at skfanfic.com where it will be running the eFiction software. This means that the site will hopefully be better organized with options to search fanfics by author, title, summary and category. It will not, however, be a SWAT Kat version of Fanfiction.net. The submission process will not change, and all submissions still need to be sent to our email. We don't have the resources to police a fully automated system and keep it free of bots, trolls and the like.

At the moment, [info]mbimomma and I are still setting up the new system. It's going to take a while to upload the existing archive as all of the old fanfics have to be entered manually.

Still, drop by and give the new site a look! Comments and suggestions would be welcome. And, no, it probably won't look the same once we're done. There are plans to give the site a little more of a SWAT Kat-worthy look.

Another drabble for my Bleach crossover collection. I do hope to get an over-arching plot going eventually. But, for now, it's another "____ in Soul Society" entry.

Website Updates: Yes, the SWAT Kats Fan Art Page has finally been updated! There's art from newcomer Soldier of Fortune as well as some pieces from Raven SK. And, it's definitely a Dr. Viper update as he dominates the submissions.

It's been forever, but I've finally gotten back to a couple SWAT Kat drabbles that I had in need of finishing/tweaking. This one was made to offer an answer to one little detail that's always kinda bothered me about one of my favorite episodes.

Website Updates: The SWAT Kats Fanfiction Archive has been updated with several new fics from Ulyferal. We've also got one new beta-reader.

SNOW!!!!!!!!!

snow
Finally, after three years of nothing but the tiniest of flurries, we have snow! (This excludes frozen rain and other such nasty weather - that doesn't count as snow.) About three inches or so, but it's been lovely all the same. ::dance of joy:: No pictures as I don't have the digital camera right now, but if we got any good ones with Mom's old camera, I'll post them when they're developed.

Fell Down a Rabbit Hole

Ever found one of those evil, evil "rabbit hole" websites loaded with information where reading one page/entry inevitably leads to following a link to another related page/entry which inevitably leads to yet another until you realize you somehow lost forty-five minutes? Yeah. I give you TV Tropes.

A trope is (as used on the site) a familiar plot device, character type, etc. used in TV shows, movies, books, etc. The site breaks them down, gives them names (often based on a popular example) and offers lists of examples. A favorite of mine is the Crowning Moment of Awesome. And, I've now learned that my favorite characters are definitely Determinators.

Oh, yes, despite the rabbit hole distraction, I really am playing with my new toy. Art postings should be forthcoming soonish.

SKFFA Update - February... and Other Things

  • Feb. 7th, 2009 at 11:18 PM
alright
Website Updates: The SWAT Kats Fanfiction Archive was updated back on February 6. Just a little update with a few fics and some new challenge ideas. Oh, and one note - Frost's "Monsters of the Mind" was listed as a work in-progress last update, but it is, in fact, complete.

Rambling: Because everyone ganged up on me, I cracked. Honest! [info]seekersks, [info]mbimomma and even my mother got in on it! (Of course, it helped that Seek let me play with his.) The temptation was too great... and the deal I found too good! So, I have ordered one.

GTTD Update - January

  • Jan. 21st, 2009 at 12:54 AM
sheepish
Website Updates: At long last I've updated my Inuyasha website, Gone to the Dogs! I've posted one new-ish sketch (okay, I've posted it to the LJ before, but it has been tweaked) and the revised second chapter of "The More Things Change..." One largish passage has been added since I posted the rough draft here. Additionally, I've added a couple of drabbles that had previously been posted here. Yes, most everything generally does get put up here on LJ first.

Website Updates: The SWAT Kats Fanfiction Archive was updated back on January 6. It's the first update of the year, and it's a good-sized one too!

Rambling: The official Shelfari widget doesn't seem to be working for me, so I made my own for my LJ profile. Because. I'm actually having fun remembering as many as I can of the books I've read. Though it feels like everytime I think I'm done I remember something else. And, I haven't even gotten into the 30 or so Trixie Belden books a friend of my grandmother's loaned me or the... 40? maybe? Saddle Club books I own.

Shelfari

  • Jan. 2nd, 2009 at 10:24 PM
bored
Rambling: Whilst enjoying a lazy New Year's Eve, I discovered a new website, Shelfari. It's sort of a book version of The Subwire. You can create a "shelf" of all the books you've read, what you're currently reading, what you plan to read and even add a wishlist. I'm certain that my current list isn't every book I've ever read. In fact, there are a couple of long-ish series I read as a kid that I know I haven't added yet, but I'll get to it. In the meantime, here's my shelf.
